Setup and tools for digital color separation
Simulating the effects of printing, when displaying a color separation on a computer screen, is the key to creating complex color separations. For CMYK separations, information about the printing conditions is handled by the Color Profile. For Spot color channels, print information is held in each channels Color, Opacity and Dot Gain Settings.
Quality Control in the RGB mode:
Beginning the Separation
“Having an images quality up to standard prior to color separation saves time during the separation process, and always results in a better print. This topic deals with image preparation prior to color separation in the RGB mode, and outlines the main image quality issues for screen printers and their solutions.”
Color concepts for Simulated Process:
“To discuss the process of making a full color separation for screen printing, it is helpful to think of a color wheel. A color wheel provides a visual description of the way colors blend to create the visible spectrum. The color wheel also demonstrates the components used to discuss and control color.”

Generate halftones for screen printing within Adobe Photoshop®.
Convert a cmyk or multichannel document with up to 8 channels to a high resolution file with printable halftones. The resulting color channels can be printed directly onto film using a standard inkjet printer.
